Filmax will be showing the first images of the film to international buyers during Berlin’s European Film Market.
Starring Lolita Flores (“Las Invisibles”), “Mallorca Confidential” turns on La Chusa, the self-made matriarch of a clan who controls the drug trade on Mallorca.
It’s no bed of roses. Set in the early 2000s, the story takes place at the height of Spain’s real estate boom with a housing project threatening to wipe La Chusa’s home from the map. When La Chusa’s nephew dies while working for her as a drug mule, her niece also vows revenge.
Directed by David Ilundain (“B”), “Mallorca Confidential” is written by Amelia Mora, who co-wrote 2024’s “Undercover, which grossed €9.7 million ($11.4 million) in Spain and is another quality thriller with a strong female lead.
‘Mallorca Confidential’ is a great example of the best of Spanish gangster movies, a genre which has already proved to travel well internationally. The project also has a unique selling point in Mallorca, a location with clear market appeal, as was shown by our film ‘Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake,'” says Ivan Díaz, Filmax head of international.

Set on Mallorca, an island of often stunning beauty, “far from a nocturnal noir style, the film embraces its own identity: a coastal thriller where violence, crime and illegal money coexist in broad daylight with the island’s luminous landscapes,” Filmax noted.
“Amelia Mora’s script invites the audience to place themselves in the shoes of each character and discover the contradictions and gray areas that influence their decisions,” producer Delpierre added.

Lolita Flores is “a truly multifaceted artist — singer, actress, and iconic figure of the Flores family, Spain’s most influential artistic dynasty of the past 80 years – who delivers a performance unlike anything she has done before in her career,” he added.
