Life for Leo, Jonas, Emma, Alex, Hugo and Toni seems little different from that of other teenagers. Leo is content and loves to play football with his friends, spending the rest of his time with his parents and sister. Jonas would be happier if his brother didn’t make his life hell. Emma tries her best to please her parents and Alex is in trouble with his teacher. Candid, Toni always says what he thinks and turns to his grandfather when he needs help. And Hugo plucks up all his courage to dive from a ten-meter board.
But, when Leo is wrenched abruptly from his everyday routine and has to go into hospital, everything changes suddenly. Tests and diagnoses now dictate his life and, to top it all, the patient in the next bed is making his life difficult. He soon spots Emma, but hasn’t dared to speak to her yet.
Right now, Leo, the future leader, does not suspect, and neither do the other future society members, that Jonas, Alex and Toni will too end up in the Albertus Clinic, where Hugo has already been in a coma for quite some time. Little do they know that they will one day go on to form the Red Band Society.
